Mother’s Day Bath Salt Recipe

May 3, 2022

Here is an easy bath salt recipe to make for any of the special women in your life. Make it even more special by filling up a pretty jar, or letting the kids decorate a mason jar or any simple jar from the dollar store.

What you need:

  • Measuring cups, bowls, spoons for mixing
  • A nice jar

Relaxing bath salt recipe:

  • 3/4 Cup Epsom Salts
  • 1/4 Cup Baking Soda
  • 1/2 Cup Coarse Sea Salt
  • A few drops of food colouring (optional)
  • 10 drops of her favourite essential oil* (optional)

After mom has her bath, you can do a little foot massage. Get her favourite lotion and have her find a cozy spot to put her feet up. Put a towel under her feet so you don’t get any of the lotion on the furniture. Put some of the lotion in your hands and rub your hands together to warm it up! Then add it to mom’s feet making sure you cover the top and bottom of her feet (one at a time) with the lotion. Using your thumbs, follow the picture to make about 5 little circles on each numbered spot on one foot. Then finish the massage by gently rubbing the entire foot. Repeat as much as your heart desires, or until mom is asleep!

*Guide to choosing your essential oils:

Calming: lavender or orange
Muscle & Joint Pain: eucalyptus, peppermint & copaiba

Important Note:  The oil recommendations are for adults.  If kids will be using the bath salts as well,  a lavender & peppermint mix is relaxing and cozy.  Also remember to keep out of your eyes.
