Are you kids constantly interrupting you to ask for snacks? Are they struggling to choose what they want or refusing to eat what you make for them?
We recommend designating a spot, such as a kitchen drawer, to leave a variety of kid-friendly snacks for children to help themselves at snack time. If you don’t have a spare drawer available, you can add a small container to the pantry cupboard or a kitchen corner. For snacks that need to be refrigerated, put these in a fridge drawer or in a dedicated bowl or container.
Kids like to be involved and are empowered when they have choices and a say in household chores or practices. Talk to your child about what snacks to include so they feel that they are part of the process and can get excited about it. You might even find that this new system encourages them to try new foods or go back to snacks they haven’t been interested in for a while!
